Fractional T1
Fractional T1 lines are great solutions for companies that have minimal bandwidth needs, but need the stability and security that a T1 line provides. Fractional T1s come with the same service level agreements (SLA) as full T1 lines. Fractional T1s are provided for either voice or data applications.
Fractional T1 service uses only a portion of the T1 line delivered. Bandwidth is delivered in increments of 64 kbps, the size of an individual channel of a T1. Carriers will have minimum fractional T1sizes and varying rates. The remaining portions of the T1 remain unused.
In the case of voice service, most carriers require a minimum of 12 telephone lines or half of the T1 channels. A fractional Voice T1 can be delivered with a D channel to provide PRI service.
Integrated T1
Integrated T1s simply use the same T1 to provide both voice and data services. There are two types of Integrated T1 lines. The first type is integrated T1 is channelized. With this service channels are “pealed” off and assigned to either voice or data service. Once assigned, the channels are only available for that service. A voice channel will always be a voice channel.
The second type of integrated T1 is a Dynamic T1. Dynamic T1s offer greater flexibility for emerging companies. All the subscribed bandwidth is used for data until a phone call is made of received. When the call is connected the necessary is bandwidth for the phone call is given the highest priority for use during the call. Bandwidth is consequently reduced by that about. Once the call is completed the bandwidth can then be uses for data again.
