T1 Lines and Services

T1 Lines

A T1 line is a high-speed digital communication line capable of delivering speeds up to 1.544 Mbps. A T1 line is divided into 24 channels each of which consisting of 64 Kbps of bandwidth. T1 lines can be delivered in several configurations.

  • Voice T1 - A T1 line in which each of the 24 channels is configured to transmit and receive voice signals.
  • ISDN PRI - A T1 line in which each of the 23 channels (B Channels) are configured to transmit and receive voice signals. The remaining channel (D Channel) is configured to transmit information between the customer and the telephone company (i.e. Caller ID).
  • Data T1 - A T1 line in which all 24 channels are configured for data and combined together for an aggregate speed of 1.544 Mbps.
  • Fractional T1 - A T1 line in which some of the 24 channels are configured voice or data signals. The remaining channels are unused.
  • Integrated T1 - A T1 line in which a portion of the 24 channels are configured for voice signals and another portion for data.
